McCormick Campaign Confirms Viral Ad Featuring Casey, Harris will Air During Olympics

Bob Casey and Kamala Harris

The campaign for Republican U.S. Senate candidate Dave McCormick announced on Friday its new ad, which features Senator Bob Casey praise Vice President Kamala Harris, will run on television in Pennsylvania during the Olympic Games in Paris.

The campaign confirmed in a statement, “the 60 second viral ad tying Bob Casey to Kamala Harris’s dangerously liberal policies this Monday during the Olympics in the Scranton-Wilkes Barre and Pittsburgh markets.”

McCormick’s ad begins with a clip of Casey claiming Harris is both “inspiring and very capable,” then immediately cuts to a reporter confronting Harris during her 2020 candidacy for the White House over being declared the “most liberal United States senator.”

It then includes Harris’ own words from various speeches and interviews when she promised to ban fracking and offshore drilling, promoting a “transition” for workers to clean energy.

The ad also includes clips of Harris acknowledging the possibility of abolishing Immigration and Customs Enforcement, creating a “mandatory buyback program” for firearms, and allowing convicted murderers and rapists to vote in federal elections.

Harris also stated, in one of the clips used in the ad, that she would oppose prohibiting illegal immigrants from accessing any federal healthcare program.

McCormick’s ad concludes with a clip of Casey claiming in a recent interview, “the more people get to know [Harris], they’re going to be particularly impressed by her ability.

After McCormick posted the full version of the ad to his account on the social media platform X, it attained nearly 3 million views, and was praised by Republicans as effective messaging against Harris in the wake of President Joe Biden’s decision to call of his bid for reelection.

Conservative commentator Matt Walsh declared, “This is how you attack Kamala Harris. Here’s the blueprint,” while reporter Mairead Elordi called it the “[m]ost comprehensive anti-Harris ad I’ve seen so far.”

The ad also sparked a warning from Rolling Stone contributor Noah Shachtman, who wrote in response, “Team Kamala is going to need an effective response to attacks like this one, and in a hurry.”

Initial polling conducted after Biden ended his campaign found Trump ahead of Harris in the battleground states Pennsylvania, Arizona, Georgia and Michigan, though the former president and current vice president were tied in Wisconsin.
